These terms explain how you can use Demos Lab (the-demos.com) and what you can expect from us in return. We have kept them short and in plain English. By using this site, you agree to them.
About This Site
Demos Lab is an independent website about creative coding and interactive media art. We publish articles, explanations, code examples and browser-based demos for people who want to learn, experiment and be inspired. We are a small, new site, and these terms reflect what we actually do.
Using Our Content
You are welcome to read, browse and learn from everything on this site for your own personal, non-commercial use.
Some practical points:
- Articles and written content belong to us unless stated otherwise. Please don’t copy or republish whole articles, or large parts of them, on another website, in a newsletter or in a product. Quoting a short passage with clear credit to Demos Lab is fine.
- Code examples are here to help you learn. Unless a snippet or project says otherwise, you may use and adapt the short code examples in your own sketches and projects. If a piece of code comes with its own license, or credits another author or library, that license and credit take priority.
- Demos and visuals are shown for learning and enjoyment. Please don’t present our demos or artwork as your own.
If you’re unsure whether something is okay, assume it isn’t and ask us first.
No Professional Advice
Our content is general information. It is not professional, legal, financial, technical consulting or safety advice. If you are building something for a client, an installation, a performance, a commercial product or anything where mistakes have real consequences, test thoroughly and get qualified advice where you need it.
Interactive Demos
Many pages on this site include interactive pieces that run in your browser. Please keep the following in mind:
- Flashing and moving visuals. Some demos may include rapid motion, strobing, high contrast or flashing light. If you are sensitive to these, including if you have photosensitive epilepsy, please take care or skip those pages.
- Sound. Some demos may play audio. Check your volume before you start.
- Device permissions. A demo that uses your camera, microphone or similar features will only do so if your browser asks you and you allow it. You can say no and still use the rest of the site.
- Performance. Graphics-heavy demos can work your device hard. They may run slowly, drain battery or behave differently across browsers. We can’t guarantee they’ll work on every device.
Accuracy and Changes to Content
We work to keep our content accurate and up to date. Creative coding tools, libraries and browser features change quickly, though, and something that worked when we wrote it may not work the same way later. We don’t guarantee that every article, code sample or demo is complete, current or error-free.
We may update, correct, move or remove content at any time without notice. If you spot a mistake, we’d genuinely like to hear about it.
External Links and Third-Party Content
This site may reference or link to other websites, tools, libraries, frameworks and platforms. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content, availability, privacy practices or terms. Visiting them is your choice, and their own terms apply.
Trademarks
Names of software, libraries, frameworks, companies and products mentioned on this site are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners. We mention them for identification and discussion only. Mentioning a product does not mean its owner endorses us, or that we have any partnership with them.
